Man stabbed over parking space at South Lake Tahoe CVS

Road rage over a parking spot in South Lake Tahoe led to the stabbing of a 51-year-old man from San Jose on Thursday, July 12.

At about 10:30 a.m., the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) received numerous 911 calls about a stabbing in front of the CVS Pharmacy located at 3471 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

Upon arrival they found Scott Nevin bleeding from a stab wound. Witnesses identified 71-year-old Paul Ivanovsky from Sparks as the person who allegedly stabbed Nevin, and he was sitting in his car nearby, awaiting the arrival of police.

SLTPD detectives responded and took over the investigation. Through interviews with both men and witnesses they were able to unravel the circumstances.

The incident was determined to be over a parking spot at the drug store in mid-town. Ivanovsky parked his car in front of of the CVS. Nevin, who parked nearby went over to Ivanovsky who was sitting in his vehicle. Nevin had his 13-year-old son with him during this incident. The father confronted Ivanovsky about the road rage incident. Ivanovsky used pepper spray against Nevin who then took the pepper spray away and sprayed him back with it. Ivanovsky exited his car and Nevin started striking him several times in the face and head. Ivanovsky pulled a knife out and stabbed Nevin once, then withdrew to his vehicle and awaited the police to arrive.

Both Nevin and Ivanovsky were transported to Barton Hospital for treatment of injuries received at the scene. Both parties are cooperating with the investigation. Neither Ivanovsky nor Nevin were arrested at this time and the case will be sent to the El Dorado County District Attorney’s office for review.
