One hospitalized and two arrested after South Lake Tahoe assault and robbery

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Two South Lake Tahoe men have been arrested after allegedly assaulting a man and stealing his firearm.

On October 7, 2020, officers from South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) responded to the El Nido Motel on Lake Tahoe Boulevard after someone said they saw a man being assaulted by two other people.

The victim, a 37-year-old local man, was transported to Barton Hospital and later flown to Renown Hospital in Reno as a result of his injuries.

An investigation led SLTPD detectives to obtaining a warrant on October 8 for the arrest of 18-year-old Avery Ellis and 24-year-old Joshua Boyer. They performed a felony warrant stop on their vehicle Thursday night in South Lake Tahoe and the pair was arrested.

According to the police report, the two men stomped on the victim's head and stole his firearm after the assault. The firearm has since been located.

Ellis and Boyer have been charged with Robbery and Assault With A Deadly Weapon according to SLTPD. They are both currently at the El Dorado County Jail. Boyer's bail is at $250,000 and Ellis has a bail of $150,000.

The victim is reportedly recovering at Renown Hospital.
