On July 12, 2016 at 2:56 p.m., with his family by his side, John Setnor passed peacefully into the Lord's Kingdom. He was born December 31st 1945 and was raised in Chicago, Illinois and spent 32 incredible years in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., with the love of his life, his Lynnie.
John's passion for fishing and extraordinary sense of humor were only surpassed by the love he showed for his family and friends. When he wasn't on his boat fishing, he loved spending time at home with his family sitting out by his pond enjoying the wildlife that he so loved.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Lynn, two daughters Marti Huntsinger and Toni Sandoval, son in law Joey Huntsinger, four grandchildren Korrina Klimek, Kathryn Klimek, Michael Sandoval and Gabriella Sandoval, and two sisters, Veronica Johnson and Janice Grady.
John was called to serve in Vietnam in 1966, where he was a machine gunner in the 1st Infantry Division 2nd Battalion 28th Infantry, BLACK LIONS. John achieved the rank of Sergeant and came home in 1967 as a decorated war veteran earning a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. After his service he spent 17 years in Fox Lake, Illinois before moving to South Lake Tahoe in 1984. He served the community that he loved working at Diamond Lumber, Century 21 and Coldwell Banker where he made many lifelong friends and left a legacy of countless happy memories that will be cherished by all.
The family requests no flowers and to honor John's wishes in donating to Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care at 1485 Cherry Hills Drive, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150 or The Humane Society at 884 Emerald Bay Road, South Lake Tahoe, Calif., 96150.
