Wag, Waddle and Walk event tonight

Dogs on the Run, a South Lake Tahoe non-profit, is hosting their monthly Wag, Waddle and Walk event on Monday, July 20 at 5:30 p.m.

The monthly dog walking activity brings together dog owners for a little exercise, optional competition and socializing. The on-leash walk starts at Al Tahoe Post Office parking lot and finishes at Sierra Pizza on Al Tahoe Blvd.

This family friendly event is for non-aggressive canines and people. Dogs must be on-leash and up-to-date on their vaccinations.

*RULES FOR RECALL CONTEST, pass or fail
This event will test contestant's training of the "come" command.
Dog may be left in a "sit" or "down" position or held by assistant behind starting line. If the dog is left in "stay", it may not change positions until owner calls.
Owner will stand within the Marked Area (MA) and may call and gesture to dog.
No food or toys on trial field.
Dog may wear a collar or harness, no leash.
Owner must touch, dog's head, dog's collar or tab (less than 1' in length) before 10 second time limit.
Distance of 15 feet.
Pass: dog comes directly to owner/handler when called by voice or gesture within time limit.
Fail: dog does not come directly to owner/handler, wanders off course on the way to the handler/owner, takes longer than 10 seconds, or owner does not touch dog, collar or tab

Dawgs On The Run seeks to improve owner awareness by providing resources and educational information in a fun and light-hearted way that the whole family can enjoy. Funds raised are donated to animal non-profit organizations to: help support spay/neuter awareness, aid the funding of health care for animals in need, and help homeless animals find loving and permanent homes.
