South Lake Tahoe begins road paving projects

The City of South Lake Tahoe has begun its annual paving project this week, July 30, 2012. Sierra Nevada Construction of Sparks, Nev., has been selected to perform the $2,858,000 contract.
Please be cognizant of the safety of the crews working and slowdown in the areas.  There will be minor traffic controls on each roadway as the work progresses. There may be minor durations where driveways cannot be accessed, the City and Contractor will do as much as possible to minimize impact to residents and businesses. Citizens are advised to observe the no parking signs where indicated, vehicles may be towed if parked within the temporary no park zones.

In addition, the City will be paving the following roadways as part of the Al Tahoe Erosion Control Project:

Nevada Avenue Merced Avenue to Lakeview Avenue (Full reconstruction and pave)
Fresno Avenue Merced Avenue to Lakeview Avenue (Full reconstruction and pave)
Lakeview Avenue Oakland Avenue to Fresno Avenue (Full reconstruction and pave)

Originally, the City had proposed the State Streets of California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, and Michael Drive to receive Asphalt Rubber Cape Seal. A recent project submitted by South Tahoe Public Utility District to replace water mains in the area shifted the project area to the Highland Woods Subdivision streets shown above.
