A construction project at the Cave Rock Boat Launch area has been underway for the past three weeks, closing part of the parking lot, and now the rest of the area will close starting Monday, August 1.
Nevada State Parks is installling new curbs and sidewalks, upgrading restrooms, removing the old unused boat ramp at the south end of the park, restriping the parking spaces and other enhancemnts to ease conjestion.
The area will be closed to boat traffic for 30-60 days. They are timing the project to coincide with the tunnel extension at Cave Rock which has caused extra traffic in the boat ramp area, and parking on the already reduced lanes of Highway 50.
Over at Sand Harbor, the boat ramp will close on August 5 due to low water conditions. This closure will prevent boats from being damaged during launching and also protect the end of launch lanes from harm.
The parking lot will remain open for non-motorized, carry-in boat access. Power boaters should use other launch ramps at Lake Tahoe. Public launch facilities are available at Lake Forest, Obexers and the Tahoe Keys Marina. Please visit http://tahoeboatinspections.com, or call the park at 777-831-0494, for further information.
