Think and act locally and globally focus of TedX South Lake Tahoe

South Lake Tahoe is opening doors for a new venture with TEDx, hosting the inaugural TEDxSouthLakeTahoe event on October 5, 2016 at The Loft in Heavenly Village from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

A local, independently organized event, TEDxSouthLakeTahoe is striving to create an environment which inspires individuals to think and engage on both a community and global scale, much like what is expected from the popular phenomenon of TED.

"We are thrilled to be hosting the inaugural TEDxSouthLakeTahoe event this October," said Robin DeSota, TEDxSouthLakeTahoe founder and curator. "At the core of the TED experience is the notion of Ideas Worth Spreading where speakers strive to inspire action, attitudes and lives. Lake Tahoe can be considered a microcosm for issues of national and global significance, so we will draw upon the sphere of influence in the region to share Ideas Worth Spreading."

Speakers from all disciplines are invited to apply to speak at TEDxSouthLakeTahoe. The following passions are especially requested: art and culture, environment, food, outdoor recreation, economy, technology, leadership and community. Speakers are encouraged to dream big and to not shy away from vulnerability, providing the audience with means to connect intellectually and emotionally.

TEDxSouthLakeTahoe also wants to create local partnerships that will play a big part in leading the movement of global ideas after the conference is over. Powerful resources in this event will make a significant impact on the sponsors' organizations, which will in turn contribute to the South Lake Tahoe community and beyond.
