Firefighters gain ground on Northern California fires

Over 4,016 firefighters have been gaining ground on three major Northern California fires burning in the Sierra.
The Bald Fire is now 91% contained. It had burned 39,926 acres as of 7 p.m. Thursday. According to incident command, there was mostly minimal fire behavior today as smoldering stumpholes and 1,000 hour fuels continue to consume. Isolated interior islands showed moderate rates of spread and some individual torching.The fire is expected to be contained by Friday.
The Eiler Fire has burned 8 homes, 1 commercial building and 20 outbuildings. There are still 50 homes threatened. The fire is now 45% contained and has burned 31,722 acres. It is burning 12 miles southeast of the town of Burney and is expected to be contained by August 20.
The Day Fire in 90% contained and has burned 13,153 acres since lightning started it on July 30. There have been six injuries and six structures have burned. Containment is expected on Saturday.
