Smoke from fires burning in Northern California has moved into the Lake Tahoe basin, Reno and Carson City.
The air in Reno reached the unhealthy range at 4 p.m. on Saturday with a 151 air quality index.
There is no single fire contributing to this, rather many large wildfires and wildfire complexes in northern California.
On Saturday night in South Lake Tahoe there is a 20% chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms before 9 p.m. The widespread haze is expected to last until 9 p.m. After the chance of showers passes, skies will be mostly clear, with a low around 41. West wind 10 to 15 mph becoming light in the evening.
Beginning on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Reno, southwest flow will take the current smoke into Oregon helping to improve conditions locally into the start of next week, but may also result in smoke from fires in southern California being transported into the region.
