The driver of a 73-foot long big rig got stuck on State Route 4 at Cadillac Curve on Wednesday after being asked by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to use I-80.
At 8:20 a.m. on August 29, CHP Officer Brothers located the over-length big rig on State Route 88 by Crystal Springs. The driver was turned around and directed to take I-80 through Reno due to being 73-feet long on a route where the maximum length is 65 feet.
The driver acknowledged, but apparently decided to take an alternate route instead on SR-4. CHP received a call of the same big rig stuck blocking the roadway at Cadillac Curve at approximately 10:45 a.m.
CHP Officer Brothers responded immediately, and a big rig tow truck was called to recover the truck and trailer.
