16th anniversary of 9/11 to be remembered with ceremony

Event Date:
September 11, 2017 - 11:00am

It took just 72 minutes to change the lives of millions of people on September 11, 2001.

In commemoration of that day and the lives lost with attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon, members of South Lake Tahoe’s American Legion Post 795 and the Ladies Auxiliary will be holding a ceremony on Sept. 11, 2017 at the American Legion Hall starting at 11:00 a.m.

The community and first responders are invited.

“Please join members of American Legion Post 795 and Ladies Auxiliary in honoring the brave men and women who died during the 9/11 attacks and those who continue to fight and die for our freedom,” said Post 795 Commander, Matthew Panks. “Each time we gather to pay our respects, we share in America’s continued effort to ensure that such an event never happens again.”

The ceremony will also recognize local emergency service personnel, including firefighters and law enforcement, who have remained resilient throughout the attack on America and who uphold the honor of patriotism every day.

The American Legion Hall is located at 2748 Lake Tahoe Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe. Refreshments will be served.

The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary is actively seeking new members. If you would like more information on eligibility requirements, please contact Mary Farnham at 530-541-4532. For more information about the 9/11 ceremony, contact Carol Olivas at (530) 544-1306.
