Event Date:

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Locals and visitors are welcome to join the American Legion Post 795 of South Lake Tahoe as they hold a commemorative ceremony honoring the victims and first responders of the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

The 11:00 a.m. ceremony will be held at the Legion Hall located at 2748 Lake Tahoe Blvd. Post members and the Ladies Auxiliary will also be providing refreshments after the ceremony.

The ceremony will honor the innocent victims of the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, airline flight takeovers and the American military service personnel who have died in the war against terrorism and other service members who continue to fight and die for America's freedom.

American Legion Posts across the country are encouraging their communities to attend these ceremonies to ensure that the innocent victims and first responders lost that day are never forgotten.

“We encourage all residents and visitors to join the members of the American Legion Post 795 and Ladies Auxiliary for this commemorative ceremony,” said Post 795 Commander, Matthew Panks. “It’s important that we don’t forget the innocent victims and first responders who died on that terrible day 15 years ago when our nation was attacked by terrorists.”

The ceremony will also recognize emergency service personnel, including firefighters and law enforcement, who have remained strong throughout the attack on America and who have upheld the honor of patriotism.

“This ceremony will not only honor those who have died, but those who continue to fight for the freedom of the people of this great nation,” Panks said. “We must remain committed to supporting the young men and women of our armed forces who serve with honor and courage.”
