Changes on the South Shore: SUP Tahoe and South Shore Bikes have new home

Editor's note: This is a series on all of the change going on in South Lake Tahoe. We'll be updating you with photos and news.

To make room for the new Bev Mo in South Lake Tahoe, SUP Tahoe and South Shore Bikes needed to find a new home. A long abandoned restaurant on Hwy89 was torn down, a new building put up and now the two local businesses have a new home.

Jessica Howitt Miller and her husband Brandon have owned SUP Tahoe for the past three years. She is a 2005 graduate of South Tahoe High and he is from Kauai. When they found out they were loosing their business's location a decision was made to purchase the land where the old restaurant was located and put in the new building.

It almost seemed like the blink of an eye and the building was up! Even though it went quickly, the Millers had to operate SUP Tahoe out of the parking lot as the demolition began. Jessica said they set up in the parking lot every morning and took it all home at night for 5 1/2 weeks while waiting for their new location to be completed.

South Shore Bikes is using 1/2 of the building for their year round operation. Chris Hernandez said business was booming over the Labor Day weekend. They just opened up on Saturday after being closed for 2 1/2 weeks.

Since SUP Tahoe won't be renting out paddle boards during the winter the shop will be turned into Soup Tahoe...a fresh soup bar with healthy and gluten free choices.
