South Lake Tahoe business news: New thrift stores and one store relocating

South Lake Tahoe has seen a lot of change over the last few years, some small project and some large.

Two businesses are jumping in on the action, one by opening three new doors, the other moving down a few doors into a new building.

Chad Tripp opened Bear Bottom Bargains two weeks ago at 1950 Lake Tahoe Blvd. He started three thrift stores in the center that also houses Tile Outlet. One store focuses on furniture, another household items and the third one, upstairs, has sporting equipment and clothing.

All items are things he has purchased, though he'll welcome donations. His slogan is "Come Bargain With Us."

Bear Bottom is currently opened 7 days a week. Mondays and Tuesdays he is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Tripp, a seven year resident of South Lake Tahoe, said he'll see how the fall goes and see which day he can close and have a day off. The phone number for the stores is the same, 530-600-4001.

South Lake Tahoe's Teaz N Pleaz also has some business news: they are relocating down the street into a new building. Owner Sam Dufour has been busy remodeling the old Clarke Building which most recently housed Discount Mattress. The store, across Brockway Avenue from Jack in the Box was also once home to Furniture Outlet.

Dufour said he other two locations, one on Cannery Row in Monterey Bay and the other on Sunrise Blvd in Fair Oaks, have been very busy. The new location in South Lake Tahoe will give him more space and two full floors for merchandise.

The new Teaz N Pleaz will be located at 2639 Lake Tahoe Blvd. Dufour hopes to be opened in that spot by October 1.
