SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Someone broke into the storage trailer at Bijou Bike Park and stole the generator used to run the gates and audio for kids races at the park.

Between 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5 and 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, September 6, the lock on the trailer was cut and the equipment stolen. Bijou park manager Chris McDade saw the open door today and called police.

The generator belonged to South Lake BMX and was essential in running the kid's race on Thursday and the big fundraiser, Jump Jam on Saturday.

The Bijou Bike Park Association said a generator has been borrowed for this week's events but say the non-profit BMX group would like their's back.

"It's crummy someone would steal from the kids," said the association.

If anyone saw something suspicious or has any other information about the theft, please call the South Lake Tahoe Police Department at 530.542.6100. Reference Case #1709-0660.
