Fundraising underway for South Lake Tahoe man with Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The local community has been showing their love and support for Chris Hogbin and his family. Chris has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma in his neck, lungs, liver, lymph nodes and bones.

He and his wife Sonnet, and their three children "are doing the best they can under the circumstance but things are tough for them right now," said a story on GoFundMe.

Chris cannot work and his wife Sonnet is on a family medical leave and the whole family is living on a portion of her bank teller's salary. Chris's doctors appointments are in Truckee and are very lengthy and the medical bills are piling up. The doctors at the Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center have chosen the method of treatment to be Immunotherapy as chemo and radiation would be too evasive. His next treatment is Friday.

Chris, Sonnet, and their son Tyler are all alumni of South Lake Tahoe High School and their twin daughters Payton and Bailee are juniors at the same school this year.

Tyler was living in Pismo Beach and moved home to help his family.

"Everyone has been so kind and generous, it’s unbelievable we cannot thank everyone enough," said Sonnet of the GoFundMe account which is now just over $10,000.

The funds raised will go toward household bills, gas and car maintenance, food and medical expenses.
