Public invited to Regan Beach Rededication Ceremony

South Lake Tahoe, Calif. – The City of South Lake Tahoe and the Regan family will be hosting a re-dedication ceremony of the Thomas F. Regan Memorial Beach on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. and the community is invited to attend.
The beach was originally called the “Lakeshore Beach Park” and was renamed the “Thomas F. Regan Memorial Beach” on April 18, 1967. Thomas F. Regan was recognized by then City Councilmembers for his dedication to the community by serving as the President of the Lake Tahoe Area Council, President of the Board of Trustees of Barton Memorial Hospital, President of the Lake Tahoe Country Club, Member of the El Dorado Grand Jury, Member of the El Dorado Planning Commission, Member of the El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce, President of the South Tahoe Rotary Club, President of the South Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce and a member of the South Tahoe Booster Club. His dedication to the environment of Lake Tahoe led him to the be the El Dorado County Representative to the Lake Tahoe Bi-State Study Committee, a precursor to the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.
A bronze plaque honoring Thomas F. Regan will be unveiled at the event.
Rededication ceremonies were previously held for the Thomas F. Regan Beach in 1981 and in 1990.
