Murder indictment handed down in shooting death of South Lake Tahoe gas station attendant

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - An El Dorado County Special Criminal Grand Jury has returned an indictment for murder with use of a firearm against Sean Donohoe. On May 12, 2020, with the help of the FBI and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Sean Donohoe was arrested for the murder of Manpreet Singh, a gas station attendant at the US Gasoline Station in South Lake Tahoe.

The 27-year-old Singh had been working at the station on August 5, 2013 when a masked gunman entered the store and shot and killed him. The killer then strolled out the front door and disappeared into the night and the case was eventually moved into Cold Case Files.

In July of 2017, the El Dorado District Attorney’s Office posted a video about the Homicide in hopes that new leads would be generated (can be seen here).

A witness watched the video and contacted investigators in the summer of 2019. The witness told investigators that 34-year-old Sean Donohoe was allegedly responsible for the murder of Manpreet Singh. Sean Donohoe, who was living in Las Vegas at the time of his arrest, lived in South Lake Tahoe at the time of Singh's death.

Another person with information on the murder contacted South Tahoe Now in 2019 and was put in contact with the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.

On September 3, 2020, the Grand Jury indicted Donohoe for murder and he was arraigned on the indictment on September 4. His next court date is set for October 5 in South Lake Tahoe.

Donohoe is currently in the Placerville jail.
