Police K-9 Trials and Fire Fest on tap for Saturday in South Lake Tahoe

The 7th Annual K9 Trials are being held in South Lake Tahoe all day Saturday. They started with Dog Patrol competition at Lakeview Commons this morning. More events will follow at the beach and the public is invited to attend.

Fire Fest is at the Tahoe Valley Airport Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This annual event is free and highlights fire and life safety for children and families. Helicopters will star at Fire Fest as they land at the SLT Airport. Go sit in a fire truck, escape from the Smoke House, wear firefighting equipment, squirt fire hoses, play in a bounce house, meet Smokey Bear and Sparky, watch fire departments compete, learn about fire resistant construction and enjoy a Kiwanis BBQ!

Also today is the National Drug Take Back Day. Drop off your unused prescription medication at the South Lake Tahoe Safeway between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Volunteers from the Drug Free Coalition will be on hand with giveaways for anyone that stops by. Last year's event collected over 60 pounds of pills.
