SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Barton Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of Troy Matthews as its new Executive Director.
Matthews’ commitment to serving his community is exhibited through his involvement and leadership in multiple organizations including Tahoe Regional Young Professionals, the South Tahoe Drug Free Coalition, Progress for Tahoe, El Dorado County Housing Task Force, LTCC Theater Arts Task Force, Leadership Lake Tahoe, and serving on the Lake Tahoe Unified School District School Board.
In his new role, Matthews will be overseeing the fundraising efforts of the Barton Foundation to ensure ongoing support of our community’s healthcare needs. He will also focus on improving the overall health and wellbeing of our community through collaborative efforts with the Community Mental and Behavioral Health Cooperative and the Community Health Advisory Committee.
“We are excited to have Troy lead the Barton Foundation,” said Angela Moore, chair of the Barton Foundation Board of Trustees. “He has demonstrated a passion and commitment to improving the lives of those in our community and for inspiring others to do the same.”
Matthews comes to the Barton Foundation from Tahoe Youth & Family Services where he worked for three years as the Development Coordinator. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Loyola Marymount University and a Master’s Degree in Political Science from George Washington University. Previous to coming to Lake Tahoe, in 2014, Matthews taught and coordinated programs at various non-profits and adolescent treatment centers in Los Angeles and the Bay Area.
“I am thrilled and humbled to accept the role of Executive Director of the Barton Foundation,” said Matthews. “I look forward to sharing the vision and connecting people to the story of Barton Health. I believe in a life of service and look forward to contributing to the improvement of health and wellness in our community. This position gives me the opportunity to do just that.”
Matthews and his wife, Rae, live in South Lake Tahoe with their dog Maddy. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, kayaking, watching sports, cooking, and managing two food blogs with Rae.
