Victim identified in Lake Tahoe boating tragedy

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The woman who died in Lake Tahoe on Friday, October 9, 2020, has been positively identified as a 30-year-old El Paso, Texas Resident.

According to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO), Daisy Rogers had been on a boat on Lake Tahoe when she went to back of the boat and accidentally fell off. A male adult who was also on board jumped in to save her but was unable to. He was wearing a life preserver but the victim did not have one on.

Other first responders joined EDSO on the 7:00 p.m. call including South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR), Lake Valley Fire Protection District (LVFPD), Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District (TDFPD) and the United States Coast Guard (USCG) after a call was received about six children on a boat that was afloat and separated from the adults in the water. USCG and TDFPD both have boats on the water year-round.

First responders located the children and transported them to Barton Hospital. They were cold but have since been medically cleared.

The male adult, reportedly their father, was pulled from the water with a body temperature of 84 degrees. He was transported to Barton Hospital and has also been medically cleared according to EDSO.

Daisy was located by the United States Coast Guard at 9:19 p.m. and taken to Barton Hospital while lifesaving efforts were attempted. Daisy was later pronounced deceased.

This incident is currently being investigated by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s office. At this time, there is no evidence of foul play and there is no criminal investigation.

Daisy has been positively identified and next of kin notifications have been completed.
