City of South Lake Tahoe City Council Meeting Marathon

The South Lake Tahoe City Council will pull an all-day meeting Tuesday, Oct. 18.
The regular meeting begins at 9 a.m. with the “State of the City” address by Mayor Hal Cole. Because this is still a regular meeting, there will be other consent agenda items and business to attend to.
A closed session is to follow, where labor negotiations teams will give their final report before the council makes a move on the budget. A tentative agreement between Labor and the city is still pending.

Council will reconvene at 2 p.m. for the next step — a special meeting to discuss the 2011-12 budget. During this portion, the original budget template presented on Sept. 15 will be looked at and changes will be discussed. Public feedback would be requested at this time as well.
It is still unclear if the budget will be completed to a point where council can vote on it at this meeting. There's still a possibility the budget will not be finalized until later this month.
The city has until Oct. 31 to pass a budget; it is operating on an interim budget at this time.
