Pedestrian and bicycle transportation and safety highlighted at Nevada Summit

Event Date:
November 9, 2016 (All day)

Pedestrian and bicycle transportation and safety will be among the topics at the 14th annual Nevada Bicycle and Pedestrian Summit, scheduled for Nov. 9 and 10 at the MontBleu Resort Casino in Lake Tahoe.

Developed to augment statewide bicycle and pedestrian resources, the summit will provide the latest information on bicycle tourism, facility planning and design, safety, enforcement and education initiatives, as well as Safe Routes to School and complete streets program information and more.

“This annual summit is truly the state’s foremost event for bike and walking enthusiasts, advocates, engineers, administrators, educators and consultants,” NDOT Assistant Chief of Multi-Modal Planning and Program Development Bill Story explained. “People understand that bicycling and walking provide many benefits to health, congestion mitigation and air quality; not to mention ease of finding a parking spot. And this summit provides resources and information to further those benefits in Nevada.”

Information and free registration is available for the summit by calling (775) 888-7727 or e-mailing jfromm@dot.state.nv.us by Nov. 4.

The summit is presented by the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition and the Nevada Department of Transportation. Further bicycle and pedestrian information is available at www.bicyclenevada.com or www.tahoebike.org.
