Pedestrian killed while crossing Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe

Update November 16: The identity of the man killed as he crossed Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe has been identified. The El Dorado County Coroner's Officer has said the victim was Daniel Wallace Curry of Carson City, Nev. He would have been 59-years-old in December.

Update: November 7 The man killed as he crossed Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe was a 59-year-old from Carson City, Nev. The victim's name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the taxi that kill him is a 61-year-old female. The incident is still under investigation by the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.

A pedestrian was struck by a taxi cab in front of the Marriott Saturday, November 5 as they tried to cross Highway 50 outside of a crosswalk area at 10:40 p.m.

The victim is not local and the name will be released after next of kin is notified.

The vehicle that struck the victim was driven by a Blackjack Taxi driver.

South Lake Tahoe Police are investigating the incident but don't believe alcohol or drugs played a role. There have been no citations or arrests.

According to SLTPD Lt. Brian Williams, the driver appears to have been driving properly.
