El Dorado County down to 1,000 votes to count - Creegan and Friedrich new South Lake Tahoe councilmembers

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The El Dorado County Elections Department tabulated another 9,614 ballots on Friday, leaving about 1,000 provisional ballots left to count.

At this time, 115,339 ballots have been counted of the possible 135,554 voters (85.09%).

Cristi Creegan and John Friedrich appear to be the next two South Lake Tahoe City councilmembers. They led the race since the first ballots were counted on election day and came out victorious in the field of ten candidates.

Measure S, the one-percent sales tax increase for the city, passed with 60 percent of the voters approving it.

Shane Rosmos will take the two-year term at South Tahoe Public Utility District to fill the seat left vacant with the passing of Jim Jones, and David Peterson and Kelly Sheehan will occupy the two four-year seats.

You will notice "Undervotes" and "Overvotes" on some of the races. An undervote means the voter didn't select all candidates they could, and an overvote is the opposite, the voter selected more candidates than they were allowed to. In that case, the person's whole vote for that candidate or issue will be canceled.

One the final counts are tabulated the election results will be certified and sent to the California Secretary of State.
