Cool but sunny start to the week in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The recent storm that passed over the Lake Tahoe Basin brought more snow than originally forecasted, so what does the coming week have in store?

Expect well below-average temperatures with dry conditions and light winds through midweek, with today being the coldest day. Later this week and into next week, a more active weather pattern is likely to return with periods of gusty winds and
increased chances for rain and snow.

For the Friday to Saturday storm, it looks to come in two waves according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno, one Friday, and one Saturday. At this time, precipitation looks to be anywhere from a half-inch to 2 inches along the Sierra Crest with around a tenth of an inch into western Nevada. As the systems get closer a clearer picture will unfold. An expected clearing next Sunday and Monday will lead to a new system next Tuesday.

Today- Sunny, with a high near 36. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Tonight - Partly cloudy, with a low around 19. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 48. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph.

Tuesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 16. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

Veterans Day - Sunny, with a high near 47. Calm wind.

Wednesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 16. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph.

Thursday - A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly after 4pm. Partly sunny, with a
high near 47. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday Night - Snow likely, mainly between 10pm and 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22.

Friday - A chance of snow before 10am, then a chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45.

Friday Night - A chance of rain and snow before 10pm, then a chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. Breezy.

Saturday - A slight chance of rain and snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 50.
