Kirkwood shifts their opening day to Saturday

Originally scheduled for November 21, Kirkwood Mountain Resort has moved their opening date to Saturday, November 24 as long as Mother Nature brings the promised snow.

“Kirkwood is dedicated to providing our guests the best early-season ski and ride experience,” said Kirkwood Mountain’s General Manager, Tom Fortune. “While unseasonably warm weather has not made it optimal for recent snowmaking operations, upcoming forecasts over the next ten days have shifted in our favor, predicting new snowfall and cool nights. Our expert snowmaking team is ready to make snow at every opportunity that weather permits and get the season kicked off right.”

For opening day, Kirkwood is planning to open the Outlaw Run on chair 5 for intermediate skiing and riding only. Rope Tow 8, may also be available for beginners. The Resort will add lifts and terrain as soon as conditions allow.

Passholders will also be treated to free breakfast sandwiches starting at 9:00 a.m. in the morning on Saturday. Also on the schedule for opening day: snack, ski and ride gear giveaways throughout the day. Guests can take a break from the slopes and après in the afternoon with live music in the Kirkwood Village. All retail outlets, on-site lodging and most of the Resort’s restaurants will be open for business serving up drinks and food.
