Celebration of life at Sierra-at-Tahoe for Zach McAllister

South Lake Tahoe native Zach McAllister passed away unexpectedly on November 12, 2016. His bright smile and beautiful soul will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His passing has left a huge hole in each of our hearts.

Born in 1990, Zach was a true Tahoe kid who grew up skiing, camping, and mountain bike riding. From the time he was a young boy, Zach knew he wanted to be a paramedic. After graduating in 2008 from South Tahoe High School, he went to paramedic school in Michigan; he then returned to attend the Lake Tahoe Basin Fire Academy at Lake Tahoe Community College. In response to the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Zach traveled to Port-au-Prince where he proudly served as a member of the EMPACT Northwest Paramedic Volunteer Team. Zach worked as a firefighter-paramedic at Northstar Fire Department since 2012. He also worked as a ski patroller at Sierra-at-Tahoe for the past eight years where he was affectionately known as “Zach Mac.” His golden retriever, Spooner, is a member of the Sierra Avalanche Dog Program.

Zach leaves behind his father and mother, Mark and Susan McAllister; his long-time love, Nina Thompson; a loving extended family; and a countless number of close friends.

A celebration of his life will be held at Sierra-at-Tahoe on Friday, December 9, at 5:00 p.m.
