SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Many Facebook users have been following South Lake Tahoe resident Brenda Simpkins since the pandemic began. She started posting festive cocktail photos on the social media site from her balcony with Mt. Tallac, a meadow, and Lake Tahoe in the background.
The cocktail photos, complete with recipes that use Tahoe Blue Vodka and homemade syrups, were an instant hit. The popularity led to a Facebook page "Cocktails on Brenda's Balcony." In May, we visited with Brenda and wrote a story about the popularity of what started with a simple cocktail on her balcony.
Then, Brenda published a book for her fans, a hardcover book full of those balcony cocktails and accompanying recipes. Her fans bought their copies and Brenda's home become a mailing center as she sent them off to destinations far and wide.
Today, $785 was donated to the Lake Tahoe wildlife Care center from proceeds of the book. Tahoe Blue Vodka also joined in, donating $1,000 on Brenda's behalf to the Tahoe Fund.
