SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR) will once again roll its decorated fire engine this holiday season! They announced earlier this week the long standing tradition of the truck going through neighborhoods with Santa on board would not happen due to safety concerns of the pandemic.
SLTFR announced Thursday they wanted to clarify the statement given to South Tahoe Now.
"This past week, one of our front line fire engines had a major mechanical issue and was taken out of service. To keep the station staffed, we had to utilize our spare engine (the Christmas engine) that was all decorated with lights and ready to go," SLTFR said on Facebook.
They are redecorating the fire engine to it's full holiday splendor once they are able to have the primary engine repaired.
"We apologize for the miscommunication with our friends at South Tahoe Now, and we want to reassure the public that the City of South Lake Tahoe will have our Christmas engine driving through the neighborhoods again this year," continued the statement.
Once the engine is ready to go SLTFR will post the schedule on Facebook and on South Tahoe Now.
