Fairly mild South Lake Tahoe forecast with some chances for rain and snow

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There have been a few break in the clouds today, but full clearing is unlikely for many lower valleys. These stubborn clouds should
gradually decrease in coverage over the weekend with drier and warmer conditions this weekend according to the National Weather Service in Reno. Mountains will remain mild and in the sunshine. A weak system brings the potential for some light
rain and snow early next week. Although there are no signals for strong storms, the pattern looks to remain active through at least mid-month.

The next system moves onto the California coast Sunday night, but becomes elongated and quite weak as it tracks inland. Light rain and snow anticipated for northeast California, the northern Sierra, and northwest Nevada. There are some signs additional precipitation to the region Monday night into Tuesday. While this appears to be a weak storm, even light amounts of snow could produce major travel impacts if it falls during the wrong time of the day. Be prepared for winter travel conditions Monday into Tuesday.

Changes ahead...Precipitation chances were increased Tuesday evening through Wednesday. While still not a significant storm, some impacts from light snow accumulations in and around the Sierra are probable mainly north of Highway 50.

After a break Thursday into early Friday, another fast wave with a little more wind and precipitation will begin to approach the Sierra. It appears to be more of a weak to moderate variety Sierra storm and could bring a few inches of snow to the Sierra. It`s current speed is the main limiting factor to impacts at this time.
