The Angel of Tahoe spreads Christmas cheer through South Lake Tahoe once again

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Due to the generosity and giving heart of the “Angel of Tahoe,” Mrs. Lisa Maloff and her love for children, presents were purchased for over 100 Tahoe children this season. Due to the pandemic, Tahoe Youth & Family Services (TYFS) was unable to hold a Christmas party as they have done for the past three years. Mrs. Maloff made a sizeable donation to TYFS with the request for the nonprofit agency to help make the holiday season extra special for local children, something needed more than ever due to these challenging times.

TYFS was provided children’s names by the Boys & Girls Club, the Tahoe Family Resource Center and Live Violence Free and they went out shopping for gifts from the Angel of Tahoe.

"It is our hope the presents purchased will put a smile on each child’s face as so many in our community our faced with such difficult times," said TYFS Executive Director Karen Carey. "Lisa Maloff cares deeply for our children and has now for the fourth year done her part to help the Tahoe children have a nice Christmas. We are very fortunate to have such an amazing and generous lady who cares so deeply about our community."

It was during that first Christmas Party hosted by Mrs. Maloff dressed as Mrs. Santa where she was given her nickname, the Angel of Tahoe, by interim TYFS Director Dr. Virginia Berry.
