Wind advisory in place for much of Friday in South Lake Tahoe

It's time to secure those Christmas decorations, especially those of the inflatable variety, as it will be a windy one around Lake Tahoe and Northern Nevada on Friday, December 14.

A wind advisory is in place from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Winds will be widespread from the south 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph. Gusts to 65 mph in wind prone areas and Sierra ridges will likely see gusts over 100 mph.

Winds will cause travel impacts for high profile vehicles in addition to turbulence, wind shear and mountain wave activity for aviation. Winds may be strong enough to cause damage and blow high profile vehicles over, especially along the Highway 395 and I-580 corridor according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
