Advenco named new concessionaire at Camp Richardson after Hassett's appeal is denied

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The U.S. Forest Service has announced that Advenco LLC will be running Camp Richardson after an appeal of their July 2023 decision for a new permittee failed.

Robert Hassett, president of Camp Richardson Resort, Inc., had been running the resort until their Granger-Thye Concession special use permit expired. He was awarded a 30-year special use permit at Round Hill Pines in 2013.

"On December 12, 2023, the Associate Deputy Chief of the USDA Forest Service completed their discretionary review and affirmed the Pacific Southwest Deputy Regional Forester’s decision to uphold the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit Forest Supervisor’s selection of Advenco LLC as the next permittee to operate and maintain government-owned facilities at Camp Richardson Resort," said LTBMU Public Services Staff Officer, Daniel Cressy. "This review was in response to an administrative appeal of the LTBMU’s selection. A new permit is anticipated to be issued in early January 2024, for Advenco LLC to provide public services at Camp Richardson Resort."

The lakefront Beacon Bar and Grill had recently been running on minimal hours until the December 12 decision was made. There is currently a sign in front telling customers to look for their famous Rum Runner Cocktail next summer at Round Hill Pines.
