USFS reviewing appeal of Camp Richardson concessionaire permit

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The concessionaire special-use agreement between the operators of Camp Richardson, Camp Richardson Resort, Inc., and the US Forest Service (USFS) has been extended.

Granger-Thye Concession special use permits are issued for those doing business on Forest Service land for a pre-determined number of years. In 2022, the permit process started for Meeks Bay, Zephyr Cove Resort, and Camp Richardson due to expiring permits. In July, USFS announced the previous operators at Meeks Bay and Zephyr Cove were awarded new permits starting November 1, but a new company was chosen for Camp Richardson - Advenco, LLC. The parties not being approved had 45 days to file an appeal of the USFS decisions.

Camp Richardson Resort, Inc. filed an appeal, and the Washington office of the USFS received it on October 25, 2023.

The original permit issued to Camp Richardson Resort Inc. has been extended as this appeal process is carried out and the resort, including the hotel and the Beacon, are operating as normal per the special use permit provisions.

The Beacon is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at this time and hotel reservations are being accepted.
