Noise complaints at SnowGlobe concert being addressed

The City of South Lake Tahoe Police Department has received complaints regarding the noise from the SnowGlobe Music Festival, which has tied up emergency phone lines. The police department needs all lines open for emergency calls only, especially during this New Year’s Eve weekend. City officials are notifying all local residents to keep the lines clear for emergency calls only.

The producers of the SnowGlobe Music Festival have been informed the music volume is disturbing to some in the community. The producers have heard the complaints and are working to mitigate the sound by repositioning some of the equipment and are offering those with noise sensitivities to relocate to Murphy’s Irish Pub between 9 pm and 11 pm for drinks and appetizers on behalf of the SnowGlobe team (be sure to say SnowGlobe sent you).

Tonight (Friday evening) between 9:15 pm and 11:00 pm the bass levels from the headliner BassNectar will be the loudest of the festival. While the overall sound levels have been reduced, the bass levels will continue to cause some vibrations. The producers have agreed to end Saturday evening’s concert earlier than scheduled and will be concluding the events at 12:30 am.

Other festival operations have been very successful, shuttles and parking operations are running smoothly and many businesses are reporting a significant increase in retail sales above expectations.

City officials understand the difficulty in balancing large-scale event operations and the impact on local residents and have expressed the concerns and interests of our residents to SnowGlobe while appreciating the thousands of visitors they have brought to our town during a time when an economic boost was much needed.

Again, please keep all police department lines open for emergencies only.
