New arts HQ Event to mobilize veterans in the arts on May 20

Local Veteran artists will display their work to the public at Arts HQ on Saturday, May 20, from 10 am to 4 pm in the Upper Parking Lot of the Veterans Memorial Building in Placerville. The free arts event — which takes place on Armed Forces Day during Mental Health Awareness Month — will raise awareness about veterans' mental health issues and include resources for Veterans and their caregivers.

Art gallery reception at the South Lake Tahoe City Hall

The City of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Arts Alliance are partnering for an art gallery reception on Monday, March 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at City Hall.

This quarter’s artist will be Yvonne McGrath presenting her Fantasy Flowers Series. She will be speaking at the event.

The art reception will include a meet and greet with displayed artists and city officials. All are welcome to attend. The event is free of charge.

Tahoe South Shore Arts Town meeting to form community's art vision

What does a community "rich in art" look like? The Tahoe Arts Alliance is partnering with Nevada Arts Council to hold a Public Arts Town Meeting and to share and get public input on Tuesday, March 13 at the Tahoe Mountain Lab from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Residents, businesses and non-profits are being brought together to assess the current "state of the arts" on the South Shore.

Public invited to unveiling of new art at City's gallery

The City of South Lake Tahoe will hold their third City Art Gallery opening on March 5 at City Hall starting at 6:00 p.m. The public is invited.

The Tahoe Arts Alliance has selected Nick Akins as the featured artist. His art will be on display from March 5-June 15, 2018. Akins has been painting for 20 years in a style that he describes as graffiti art. Due to a scheduling conflict, Akins will not be in attendance of the art gallery opening.

The City of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Arts Alliance are partnering for the second art gallery reception on Monday, October 23 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at City Hall located at 1901 Airport Road.

The Tahoe Arts Alliance connects artists, businesses and organizations on the South Shore, and the City’s lobby serves as a blank canvas to display local artists. The art will be rotated throughout the year and all art will be available for purchase.

A reception to unveil the new art gallery at City Hall in South lake Tahoe will be held on Monday, June 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The public is invited to this free event.

The City and Tahoe Arts Alliance (TAA) have teamed up on the project which will bring work of local artists to the walls at the entrance of City Hall at the airport. Their art will be rotated throughout the year and all art will be available for purchase.

Preger to Speak About Photographing Burning Man April 5

"From the Lens of Eleanor Preger," is an exhibition at Sierra Nevada College that includes images from Burning Man 2011-15, and the photographer will talk about her art during the closing reception for the show on April 5. Crimson Rose, Burning Man co-founder, and Maria Partridge, Artist Advocate for the Burning Man Foundation, are both expected to make comments during the evening.

Eleanor Preger's talk will take place in the Ron and Maureen Ashley Community Gallery at the Holman Arts & Media Center on campus from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

And the quicker the region embraces it, the better.

Jazz artist presents 'Me and Bobby McGee' at Valhalla Boathouse

Wa She Shu It Deh Native American Arts Festival

The Wa She Shu It’ Deh Native American Arts Festival at the Valhalla Grand Lawn July 28-29 features traditional American Indian dancers and drum performers, basket weaving displays, art, and great food. The basket weaving competition features over fourteen different categories. The Washoe are highly regarded for their master craftsmanship of baskets and have had several well-known weavers throughout their history, including Dat So La Lee.
