Submitted by Editor on Tue, 04/24/2012 - 8:18amThe U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit is asking for public input on the Environmental Assessment prepared for the William Kent Best Management Practices (BMPs) Retrofit and Administrative Site Redevelopment project. The proposed project area is approximately 22 acres and is located one mile south of Tahoe City on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe and consists of the William Kent Campground, the William Kent administrative site, and the William Kent day-use beach area.
Forest Service seeks input for MojoMan Challenge at Heavenly Mountain Resort

This is an adventure race competition that covers approximately 10.5 miles and incorporates 25 to 30 challenge obstacles along the course that participants will negotiate.

Lake Tahoe planning agency announces 2011 Best in The Basin award winners
Submitted by Editor on Tue, 02/21/2012 - 12:43pmRecognized for stewardship and care taken in the building and construction of developments around Lake Tahoe, the 22nd annual Best in the Basin awards were announced Tuesday by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.
The TRPA, which sets policy for development around Lake Tahoe, will recognize the winners, listed below, during the 2011 Best in the Basin awards presentation during the meeting of its Governing Board on Wednesday, Feb. 22 in Stateline. Go here for the agenda.
Fallen Leaf trail and improvement plan continues to stir concerns

With a comment deadline now past, the project entails improvements to 12,960 acres and includes nearly 42 miles of existing trail from Pope to Baldwin beaches on the north end to the south and west ends of Fallen Leaf Lake.

Agency launches Tahoe's 'Most Un-Wanted' invasive species public campaign

The Tahoe Resource Conservation District has released a series of educational posters which identify some of the biggest threats to Lake Tahoe Basin, as well as what visitors, residents and even kids can do to help. Titled “Tahoe’s Most un-Wanted,” the first three posters feature aquatic invasive species, fine sediments from runoff and invasive weeds, and are free to pick up or request for local schools, businesses and other organizations who would like to display them publicly.

Edgewood Companies plans summer opening of Bonanza Park

Edgewood acquired the C&M Lodge in order to reuse the associated Transient Occupancy Units (TAUs) on its new Lodge Project at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, according to a news release.
Tahoe Conservancy Approves Signature South Lake Projects

The California Tahoe Conservancy today awarded funding for two of South Lake Tahoe's signature environmental and recreational projects: the Bijou Creek Watershed Project and the South Tahoe Greenway bike trail.
Gas station proposal goes to Planning Commission today

The South Lake Tahoe Planning Commission is scheduled to vote today on whether to approve a new gas station, car wash and convenience store at the “Y”
shopping center.
The project would replace the vacant service station at 1020 Emerald Bay Road, next to the Raley’s supermarket, which was recently demolished.
