Three near-fatal overdoses in Douglas County - Counterfeit Percocet pills with fentanyl
Submitted by paula on Wed, 05/13/2020 - 1:33pmDOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - In the past 72 hours, three people have had near-fatal overdoses in Douglas County due to fentanyl-laced counterfeit pills being ingested. Deputies were able to quickly administer Naloxone to save the victims.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) warned the public two months ago regarding the counterfeit Percocet pills with fentanyl being sold in the area.

Submitted by paula on Wed, 09/18/2019 - 11:17amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) is looking for a woman suspected of passing, and attempting to pass, counterfeit $100 bills over the past several days at multiple stores.
Starting on Friday, September 13, SLTPD began to receive reports of a female suspect who was at time accompanied by a male suspect with the bad currency. Throughout the week, the suspect(s) went to multiple stores in South Lake Tahoe.

Use of counterfeit bills on the rise in El Dorado County
Submitted by paula on Thu, 08/17/2017 - 11:10pmThe El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) is reporting a significant increase in the amount of counterfeit currency being passed along the Highway 50 corridor. The bills found to be fake have consisted mainly of $20 and $100 dollar bills.
The suspects have passed the bills at El Dorado County businesses in exchange for products or in the purchase of gift cards.
According to EDSO Sgt. Tasha Thompson, Safeway stores in particular seem to be targeted, and use of the fake bills at self-checkout stations has been a common occurrence.

Sheriff seeks suspects who passed counterfeit $100 bills on South Shore
Submitted by paula on Mon, 10/03/2016 - 1:40pmThree men are being sought by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office for the allegedly passed counterfeit $100 bills at the CVS pharmacy in Stateline, Nev., on September 30.
Seven counterfeit bills were passed in three separate incidents by the three suspects. The transactions occurred at 12:07 a.m., 4:17 a.m. and 6:24 a.m. In all three incidents the men purchased Visa gift cards in varying amounts and received cash back in change.
At the 12:07 a.m. transaction, the suspect is described as a male, possible Hispanic, in his mid-30’s, wearing a black hat, black sweatshirt.
Three arrested in Carson City counterfeiting operation
Submitted by paula on Wed, 08/24/2016 - 7:34pmThree people were arrested Wednesday in connection with a counterfeit money operation after a search warrant was served at a local motel, a Carson City Sheriff's Office detective said.
Investigators arrested Conrad Hilbmann, Lorrie Lockwood and Kathleen Lockwood. All suspects were charged with counterfeiting, possession of a financial forgery lab, possession of forged bills, uttering a forged instrument, conspiracy to commit forgery and possession of a controlled substance.
During the investigation, more than $3,000 in counterfeit US currency was seized.

Submitted by paula on Thu, 08/18/2016 - 3:15pmEl Dorado County Sheriff's deputies responded to the call of a disabled vehicle and came away with the arrest of two women on several charges stemming from what was found in that car.
On August 17, 2016, at approximately 6:45 a.m., the deputies went to the car which was in the roadway of Strolling Hills Road at the entrance to Safeway in Cameron Park. Once there they contacted two women, Tanya Starks, 35, and Kimberly Higgins, 47.

El Dorado County teen latest victim of counterfeit hydrocodone
Submitted by paula on Thu, 03/31/2016 - 8:42pmAn 18-year-old El Dorado Hills resident is the latest victim of a rash of overdoses from pills made to look like the prescription painkiller, Norco.
In Sacramento County, six deaths are attributed to the pills, and the death of county resident George Berry is now the seventh suspected victim. The pills ingested are actually Fentanyl, which is 80 times as potent as morphine and hundreds of times more potent than heroin.

On May 8, the Sheriff Deputies were called to the Round Table Restaurant in Pollock Pines after a man tried to buy food with a counterfeit $100 bill. He and a woman left before deputies arrived but a description of the pair and their vehicle was provided to EDCSO.
Counterfeit ring broken up in El Dorado County

On April 30, 2015 at about 1:00 p.m., deputies responded to Red Hawk Casino for a fraudulent use of a credit card. Red Hawk casino security reported two persons inside the casino attempted to use forged or stolen credit cards in an attempt to obtain cash. One was described as an adult Hispanic man and the other as an adult African American woman.
