Pair facing charges including counterfeiting and forgery

El Dorado County Sheriff's deputies responded to the call of a disabled vehicle and came away with the arrest of two women on several charges stemming from what was found in that car.

On August 17, 2016, at approximately 6:45 a.m., the deputies went to the car which was in the roadway of Strolling Hills Road at the entrance to Safeway in Cameron Park. Once there they contacted two women, Tanya Starks, 35, and Kimberly Higgins, 47.

Starks was determined to be on felony searchable probation, so a search of the vehicle was conducted and deputies located counterfeit money, printers, multiple identifications, checks and credit cards not belonging to either woman.

After a thorough investigation, both women were arrested and booked into the El Dorado County Jail on multiple charges including suspicion of forgery, possession of counterfeit die/apparatus and possession of personal identifying information without authorization.

Higgens is currently in the El Dorado Jail in Placerville with a $40,000 bail hold. Starks is facing extra charges due to her previous probation. Her bail was set at $65,000.
