SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) is looking for a woman suspected of passing, and attempting to pass, counterfeit $100 bills over the past several days at multiple stores.
Starting on Friday, September 13, SLTPD began to receive reports of a female suspect who was at time accompanied by a male suspect with the bad currency. Throughout the week, the suspect(s) went to multiple stores in South Lake Tahoe.
It is unknown at this time how many of the bad bills were accepted. Detectives are currently working on several reports and some locations may have to wait for deposits to be recorded at the bank.
SLTPD is seeking the assistance of the public with identifying the suspect.
Above are images captured from various stores’ surveillance systems.
Also, the police are asking local stores who have discovered a patron attempting to pass any counterfeit currency to immediately contact the police.
