Several Troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol, as well as other employees for the Department of Public Safety, will be volunteering their time to raise money for Special Olympics Nevada and California on Saturday, June 14, 2014 in the Hard Rock Café in Stateline between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. and between 5 p.m and 9 p.m.

The NHP and DPS will be assisting the wait staff as they serve patrons in order to earn "special tips."

In February 2014, Primo’s Italian Bistro celebrated two years in its South Lake Tahoe location. As a way of saying thank you, Primo’s “Customer Appreciation Month” will feature two-topping pizzas for only $10 throughout the month of May.

Primo’s pizzas are hand tossed, East Coast Style, and cooked to
perfection in the brick oven. Primo’s is open seven days a week until
10 p.m., for lunch Monday through Friday starting 11 a.m., and for dinner
Saturday and Sunday starting at 4 p.m. Primo’s is located at 2180 Lake
Tahoe Boulevard, behind Orchid Thai.

Bijou Community School PTA presents a night out with a Dinner and a Show on
Thursday, March 13th at the school's multi-purpose room.

Dinner will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. A spaghetti dinner platter with spaghetti, garlic bread & Caesar salad will be served for $5. Following the feast will be a Talent Show from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. . The Bijou Community students will be performing songs, dances ,magic shows and more. Admission is FREE.

What would you do if you were losing your eyesight? This question wasn't a hard one to answer for Monroe, Louisiana resident Leslie Hestle. Her answer? Go to Lake Tahoe!

Suffering from gyrate atrophy since birth, Hestle knew that her eyesight was going away. People with the disease are usually totally blind between the ages of 40-60. One year ago she had cataracts surgery, giving her eyesight for awhile longer but without peripheral vision.

Model and television personality Heidi Klum hit the red carpet in South Lake Tahoe Saturday night to help celebrate the opening of the new luxury hotel, The Landing. She was joined by 10 time Grammy award winner Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, local business owners and associates.

The party highlighted what the hotel is bringing to the south shore: a 5 star boutique property with high end amenities, a beautiful onyx bar, a restaurant under the direction of a celebrated British chef, fire pits as well as a new wedding and event venue.

During the winter of 1960, athletes from around the world came to Lake Tahoe to participate in the Winter Olympic Games. The biathlon and cross country events were held in what is now Sugar Pine Point State Park. A celebration of the area's snow heritage begins Saturday with a series of events to showcase makes the region so special.

The South Tahoe High School Performing Arts Booster Association (PABA) Gala will be held on Saturday, January 25 at 5 pm. For just $30 per ticket you'll get a steak and lobster dinner prepared by local residents, the Romagnolo family. Discounted entrance tickets into the theater department's performance of "Young Frankenstein" immediately after dinner are also available for $10 each.

Dinner is at 5 pm and will be held in the STHS Studen Union. The play will start after dinner in the school's new theater.

Despite smoky skies, South Lake Tahoe was still a hot spot this Labor Day Weekend. The 4th Annual Sample the Sierra festival brought in masses of people to taste the unique flavors of the Sierra Nevada. The kickoff Winemakers Dinner at Bumgarner Winery spoiled attendees with a five course meal prepared in the wood fired oven with each course appropriately paired with one of Bumgarner’s fine wines. Saturday’s Sip & Shop at Après Wine Company drew more than 20 people to taste C.G. Di Arie wines and gourmet cheeses.

Since its conception in 2010, the Labor Day weekend's Sample the Sierra has continued to grow and evolve. Beginning as a one-day South Lake Tahoe street festival, the event has expanded into an entire weekend of festivities celebrating the bounty and heritage of the Sierra Nevada region.

Two Sierra Nevada black bears, a mother and her cub, were released in the foothills in Douglas County near Kingsbury Grade Thursday night after being caught by Nevada Division of Wildlife officials earlier that morning.
