The Reno Jazz Orchestra is a 17-piece contemporary band based in Northern Nevada, that has just celebrated its 20th Anniversary. The band was formed in 1997 by musicians who have performed with acts such as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Elvis Presley, Natalie Cole, and Luciano Pavarotti. Members have traveled the world with legendary performers Now the Reno Jazz Orchestra is bringing the spirit of Christmas with their " Home for the Holdays" shows.

Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra Director Vern Scharbrough, will guest conduct the Reno Jazz Orchestra’s November concerts and feature the music of Stan Kenton on November 8 and 9 in Reno, NV.

Kenton was one of the legendary bandleaders like Duke Ellington and Count Basie who elevated big bands from the dance hall to the concert hall each with their own distinctive sound.

Doug Coomler has an accomplished career that includes performances with some of the finest musicians and singers in America.

Reno Phil Principal Cellist Peter Lenz performs Dvorak’s towering Cello Concerto; Beethoven and Rossini are also on deck.

TOCCATA-Tahoe Symphony Orchestra’s 13th SummerFest continues with ROMANTIX, presented in four different venues in the Reno-Tahoe-Carson area July 27 – Aug. 5, 2018 (in SLT Friday, Aug. 3). Reno Philharmonic Principal Cellist Peter Lenz will blow you away with his performance of the Dvorak “Cello Concerto in B Minor.” The orchestra also digs into Beethoven’s “Symphony #1,” and offers up the delightful froth of Rossini’s “Overture to the Barber of Seville.”

Frank Sinatra Jr, dies, was just 19 when kidnapped from Harrah's Tahoe in 1963

Frank Sinatra Jr., the son of the legendary entertainer who also had a long musical career of his own, died Wednesday at a Daytona Beach, Florida hospital. He was 72.

Sinatra had been on his "Sinatra Sings Sinatra" tour and was scheduled to perform at the Peabody Auditorium on Wednesday. The venue posted an announcement in social media that the singer had taken ill.

The "Jazz & Beyond: Carson City Music Festival," in collaboration with Carson City, is proud to present five of several bands at the Nevada Sesquicentennial Fair in Fuji Park on Saturday, August 2. "Jazz & Beyond" runs from Aug. 1 to Aug. 17 and features over 50 events, mainly in the downtown Carson City area.

The five "Jazz & Beyond" bands at the Fair on August 2 are Sons of Slide Mountain, RVGS Tantalus, Lynne Colvig Latin Jazz, the Reno Jazz Orchestra with singer Jackie Landrum, and the St. Christopher Project, featuring the music of Tom Waits.
