Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen preparing to open in Lake Tahoe

STATELINE, Nev. - Many know him from "Hell's Kitchen," "MasterChef" and "Kitchen Nightmares," and now people will get to know world-renowned Chef Gordon Ramsay and experience his culinary skills at his new Lake Tahoe restaurant named after the hit reality show.

Caesars Entertainment has teamed up with Ramsay once again and has transformed the old Sage Room in Harveys Lake Tahoe to be the newest home for Hell's Kitchen.

Even before the doors open, over 12,000 reservations have been made for one of 151 seats in the 3,160 square foot restaurant located on the casino floor.

STATELINE, Nev. - An early Christmas present for country music fans. Harrah's and Harvey's Lake Tahoe have announced the first act confirmed for the 2020 Lake Tahoe Summer Concert Series.

Country music superstar Kenny Chesney will bring his Amphitheater CHILLAXIFICATION tour to Tahoe on July 2 & 3, 2020. Chesney’s amphitheater shows feature popular, multi-talented musician and Oakland, California native Michael Franti & Spearhead as support on the stage.

Tower of Power heads to South Shore after two band members hit by train

Two musicians with the legendary Bay Area R&B band Tower of Power remain hospitalized after being hit by an Amtrak train in Oakland on January 12. The other band members will still be performing on the South Shore at Harrah's Tahoe February 3 and 4.

The band's longtime drummer, 70-year-old Dave Garibaldi, is listed in "fair condition" but will remain hospitalized for a few more days as he recovers from head and facial injuries.

Harrah's and Harvey's holding job fair

With winter just around the corner, Harrah's and Harvey's are starting to gear up their staffing needs. They will be holding a job fair on Thursday, Oct. 13, from noon to 4:00 p.m.

They are looking for fun, friendly people to join the team in several areas and are looking for cooks, kitchen stewards, beverage servers, hotel front desk, security officers, food servers, wardrobe clerk, retail clerk and baristas to name a few. .

The hiring event takes place at Harvey's bus reception lobby, located adjacent to the employment office at the rear/southwest entrance of the hotel.

Public bus from South Shore to Carson City may be cut due to lack of funding

Unless a new source of funding comes through, the Tahoe Transportation District Board is going to cut the 21x bus line from the South Shore to Carson City starting October 2.

Action Adventure Expo and Hike for the Humane Society

Bread & Broth would like to thank the employee volunteers of Harrah's and Harvey's who adopted a day of nourishment at the non-profit's weekly Monday evening dinner on March 28.

“We love helping with the great folks at Bread and Broth,” commented volunteer Jacalyn Andrews. “It warms your heart to be involved with serving a hot meal.”

Jacalyn is a Game Supervisor at Caesars’ Stateline casinos and she and her fellow HEROs volunteer crew members had a great time at the Harrah’s/Harvey’s HEROs Adopt A Day dinner.

City adds another location for electric car owners to charge up

Visitors to South Lake Tahoe have several options to charge their cars, with the newest location added in the City owned Heavenly Village parking garage.

The City partnered with ChargePoint, the largest electric vehicle charging station company, and added a system on the first floor of the garage near the elevator. Users will need to have an account with ChargePoint.

Golfers on the course for 15 hours for "Longest Day of Golf"

Nine golfers started their day at 6 a.m. Thursday, prepared to be on the Tahoe Paradise Golf Course until 9 p.m. raising money for the South Lake Tahoe Cancer League.

In their tenth year, the concept of the Day of Golf was started over a couple of cocktails at the South Lake Tahoe Moose Lodge. Russ Wilson and Curt Emrie formulated the idea and went to the cancer league to see if they'd like to get the donations earned during the day.

Last year, the golfers got 130 holes of golf in before dark, raising $12,000.

Caesars rolls the dice in bankruptcy court

Casino company Caesars Entertainment (CZR), the owner of Harrah's and Harvey's in Lake Tahoe, announced early Thursday that it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in federal court in Chicago for its main operating unit in an attempt to beat back an effort by some creditors who filed their own bankruptcy plan in Delaware on Monday. They claim the company has cheated them.

South Shore casinos score big in October

In October, casinos on the South Shore had a gain of 52.75% over last year, bringing in $18,775,747. This is the third straight month MontBleu, Lakeside Inn, Harrah's and Harvey's jointly have had a gain over their previous year's numbers.

Nevada casinos took in $913,643,061 which is an overall loss of 4.26%.

The biggest "winner" in the state was the South Shore while the biggest "loser" was the Boulder Strip casinos which $58,125,124, down 24.20% from October of 2013.

The gaming win represents the computed income of casinos before business expenses and taxes.

Elderly caregiver series to be given in South Lake Tahoe

The 2014 Fall Aging & Caregiver Series will be given for the next six weeks in South Lake Tahoe. This six week series of classes are designed to provide instruction and support for caregivers who are, or are planning to, care for a family member or friend age 60 or older.

All classes are held at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel (formerly Embassy Suites) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Participants must register by calling 530-621-6369 or 800-510-2020. Free in-Home respite is available to qualified caregivers. Pre-authorization is required for respite services.

Tahoe Bike Challenge Starts on Saturday

Join hundreds of your friends, neighbors, co-workers during the 2014 Tahoe Bike Challenge, an annual event that encourages Lake Tahoe residents to get out of their cars and onto bikes.

The event starts off on Saturday with a Bike Trail Clean Up Day. Anyone can join them at three locations after signing up,and lunch is even included. Meet at Sierra Nevada Alliance at 2311 Lake Tahoe Blvd, Los Angeles and Hwy 50 by the fire station or behind Clean Tahoe, 2074 Lake Tahoe Blvd. Lunch will be served after the clean up day at the League to Save Lake Tahoe.

The South Lake Tahoe Winter of 51/52 and Other Great Stories

Dubbed the "All Star Panel," a group of long time local residents shared stories of a South Lake Tahoe most of us never experienced. The seven panelists have lived in Lake Tahoe a combined 600 plus years and shared some great stories with the overflowing crowd at Camp Richardson Lodge on Tuesday evening. In fact, the number of long time locals in the audience was very evident since their combined years of living in Lake Tahoe was over 1880!
