Large 4th of July parade expected in South Lake Tahoe

The City of South Lake Tahoe will be hosting this year's 4th of July parade, and a large turnout is expected for both the parade and the post-celebration activities at the American Legion.

Community members, clubs, groups are all signing up to take part in the parade on Monday, July 4, starting at 10:00 a.m. So far, there are 50 entries and 150 walkers participating.

The route goes from the Crossing at the "Y" to Al Tahoe Blvd, at the Rite-Aid parking lot so travelers can expect travel delays on the road during the duration of the parade.

Monthly local's night at Lake Tahoe Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

As a thank you to area residents and employees, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe is hosting a free industry night for locals on the last Sunday of every month featuring live concerts in Vinyl. The first monthly event is Sunday, April 26 with a performance by Forget the Roses. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m.

If the success of Thursday night's merging of South Lake Tahoe politics with speed dating is any indication, we should see many more forums done in the same format in the future. A much more educated and knowledgeable voter emerged from the evening's event at Lake Tahoe Community College.

The South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, KTHO Radio and Lake Tahoe Community College are jointly sponsoring the Candidate's Forum in the Aspen Room, which is in the college's library building, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

South Lake Tahoe Business EXPO on Friday

A record-breaking 100 businesses will participate in the 2014 Business EXPO –“Tahoe South in ACTION” this Friday, March 28. The event begins at 4:30pm and continues until 8:30pm in Harrah’s Lake Tahoe Convention Center. It will highlight South Shore businesses’ goods and services to an anticipated crowd of 1,200 attendees.

Here's the forecast:
Independence Day: Sunny, with a high near 80. West wind between 5 and 10 mph.
Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 46.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 78.
Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 47.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 80.

South Lake Tahoe 4th of July Parade

Golden Bear Events presents the inaugural 4th of July Parade in South Lake Tahoe on Wednesday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to noon down Highway 50.
This event is sponsored by the South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, KTHO Radio 590 am and 96.1 fm and the City of South Lake Tahoe. Staging will be at Stateline Ave., then proceed down Hwy 50 to Rufus Allen Blvd.
The parade will culminate in the back of the parking lot at the Recreation Complex at 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd. Bring out the family to line the highway and watch or meet at the Recreation Complex for the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.

Lake Tahoe Chocolate Factory and Cakes by Grace Open House

Lake Tahoe Chocolate Factory and Cakes by Grace are throwing an open house party on Tuesday, Oct. 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at their store in Stateline. The event will feature a live broadcast by KTHO radio, appetizers, tastings of desserts and treats, and wine from Apres Wine Co. Holiday items will be on display, including edible centerpieces, cakes, fudge and chocolate. There will be a contest to name the store, with the winner receiving certificates for chocolate and cakes worth $100.
