The City of South Lake Tahoe will be hosting this year's 4th of July parade, and a large turnout is expected for both the parade and the post-celebration activities at the American Legion.
Community members, clubs, groups are all signing up to take part in the parade on Monday, July 4, starting at 10:00 a.m. So far, there are 50 entries and 150 walkers participating.
The route goes from the Crossing at the "Y" to Al Tahoe Blvd, at the Rite-Aid parking lot so travelers can expect travel delays on the road during the duration of the parade.
The parade is being helpd in honor of local American Legion Post 795, who will also serve as the parade marshals.
Local personality Dreu with a U “Murin" of Mountain Resort Television’s hit show "Ultimate Tahoe Adventures" and KTHO Radio on-air personality will be Host/Emcee for the parade and will be announcing from the American Legion Post 795. Brandi Brown’s Tahoe Production House will be live streaming the parade from the same location. Temporary bleachers will also be at the American Legion providing the perfect viewing location of the parade.
There will be an "After Party" at the American Legion Post 795 located at 2748 Lake Tahoe Blvd. The party will begin immediately following the conclusion of the parade a featuring a BBQ with hot dogs and hamburgers, music, and a beer garden.
Parade participants are to be in formation by 9:00 a.m. in the parking lot of The Crossings (the former Shops at the Y) parking lot at the “Y.” Participants must maintain steady movement of parade with 15 to 20 feet between each entry.
The two westbound lanes of Highway 50 from Stateline to the “Y” will remain open. The two eastbound lanes of Highway 50 from the “Y” will be closed from 9:30am to 10:20am with a rolling lane opening beginning at approximately 10:20am. Motorists are to except traffic to be slow and we encourage motorists to utilize Pioneer Trail during and immediately following the parade.
The City extends their gratitude to the Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe for their volunteer efforts to help put on the parade.
