The first in a four-volume series, this fascinating book takes readers on a tour of the southern-most section of this historic cemetery, and honors the lives of some of Carson Valley's earliest and most prominent settlers who are buried here.

Those on the South Shore will be treated to two holiday bazaars on Sunday, December 3, 2017.
Golden Bear Events is hosting their annual Winter Bazaar at the American Legion at 2748 Lake Tahoe Boulevard. From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., holiday shoppers can find See's Candies, handmade jewelry, home decor, books from local authors, photography, treats from Don's Cakes by the Lake, Girl Scout Troop #123 will be selling handmade crafts, Beauty Control, hair accessories, fiber arts, clothing and more, plus the Cheer Team will be gift wrapping for a donation.

November 12, 2016 - 10:00am Golden Bear Events is holding their second annual Winter Bazaar and Health Fair will take place at the Inn by the Lake Events Center in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday, November 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Admission to the event is free, and each attendee will receive a free door prize ticket.
Vendors will offer a variety of specialty food, candles, home decor, jewelry, art, books, and other gift items for holiday gift giving or home decorating. Health tips and services will also be offered. Drawing prize tickets will be available for purchase for some amazing gifts baskets.
Authors to speak on Historic Bodie Railroad

June 19, 2016 - 10:00am Authors Wanda and Richard Canton will speak on their book, Bodie Railway & Lumber Company: Railroad in the Sky 1881–1917, in a free presentation at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Sunday, June 19, at 10:00 a.m.
The Cantons’ book tells the story of the dream of bringing timbers and cordwood to the remote mining town of Bodie, Calif. by train. In 1880 the mining town of Bodie was located at over 8300' in the eastern Sierra. The plans for a 32-mile narrow gauge railway developed through hard work and some luck as well.

September 24, 2013 - 6:00pm The Friends of the Library are excited to present Christie Rassuchine (Higman) and Robyn Lindner, two authors who grew up in Tahoe. They will be reading from their new book. The story is about a group of elementary school students who form their own club and deal with bullying, acceptance, and what it feels like to be the new kid at school. The characters in the story are in third grade, but the book appeals to kids throughout elementary school.
This is a free, fun event and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Book sale and signing to follow.

The second annual Fall Festival and Chili Cook Off will return to the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Complex on Saturday, September 14, 2013. The event will begin at 10:00 am and run until 4:00 pm.
