Democrats Continue To Outpace Republicans In Nevada Voter Registration Efforts

CARSON CITY — Democrats continued to outpace Republicans in their voter registration efforts in August, signing up 12,163 new voters to 5,042 for Republicans, the Secretary of State’s office reported today.
Registered nonpartisans increased by 6,575 during the same time period, also exceeding the registrations by the GOP.
Of the 1,122,236 active registered voters statewide, 41.3 percent, (463,229), are Democrats, 36.3 percent, (407,513), are Republicans, and 16.7 percent, (186,941), are nonpartisans.

Tahoe Douglas Rotary builds kiosks at local parks

Members of the 60 member strong Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club recently completed two kiosks for the public to use in the South Lake Tahoe area. The first one is located at Kahle Community Park and the second one is at the new Van Sickle Bi-State Park. The kiosks are now used to hold information, including maps of trails and topography as well as pictures and events. The club took on the projects as part of the worldwide volunteer work day.

Edgewood Lake Tahoe resort project approved by TRPA board

Lake Tahoe planning leaders gave their approval Thursday to a paradigm changing project at the South Shore, which would allow for a high-end resort complex at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, the site of the American Century Championship.
The governing board of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency unanimously approved the Edgewood Tahoe Lodge and Golf Course realignment project that will make way for the 154-room lodge. Construction could begin in 2014, according to the Tahoe Daily Tribune.

Carson High Booster Club receives a “boost” from the Carson Nugget

Carson City, NV—Carson High School football players will receive new helmets, shoulder pads and other equipment this year thanks to the generosity shown during the annual “Kick-Off Dinner” recently held at Carson Nugget.

At the start of each season, the Carson High Athletic Department and the Carson High Football Boosters raise money to support the program. This year the Carson Nugget provided the venue and split the revenue generated through the sale of alcohol to help the group generate income.
