Douglas County election results still being counted, Tarkanian moves ahead
Submitted by paula on Wed, 06/17/2020 - 9:40amDOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - The race for the Douglas County Commissioner for District 1 has been a tight one. As of Tuesday, June 16, challenger Danny Tarkanian is ahead of incumbent Dave Nelson by 12 votes. Ever since voting ended on June 9, the count between these two candidates has been a close one. Nelson had been leading during the first week of tabulated results but Tarkanian has now moved ahead.
As of Tuesday at 5:00 p.m., ballots from 57.18 percent of the county's 20,818 eligible voters have been counted. Results from those ballots:

Tahoe Chamber endorses three candidates for Douglas County commissioner
Submitted by paula on Wed, 05/06/2020 - 11:07pmSTATELINE, Nev. - Three candidates for the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners have been endorsed by the Tahoe Chamber Board of Directors: Larry Walsh, Nathan Tolbert, and Danny Tarkanian.
Walsh is seeking reelection for District 3, Tolbert is a candidate for the open District 5 seat, and Tarkanian is running for election against incumbent Commissioner Dave Nelson in District 1.
21,000 more El Dorado County ballots counted: Measures M and B on way to defeat
Submitted by paula on Fri, 03/06/2020 - 6:23pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The El Dorado County Elections department released another count of ballots from Tuesday's primary election on Friday afternoon.
Since election night, 21,446 more ballots have been counted in the county and those results were released at 4:40 p.m. Elections officials say there are just about 1,000 left to count. These late numbers come from ballots received in the mail and left in the area drop boxes near election day. It is unknown the location where the remaining 1,000 ballots are from.
Strong early voting in El Dorado County
Submitted by paula on Tue, 03/03/2020 - 12:39pmEL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - El Dorado County voters have historically been a mail-in ballot voter, with about 80 percent of those registered putting their ballot in the mail.
So far, over 34,000 ballots have been received by the El Dorado County Elections Office and tabulated. This is about 35 percent of the 124,353 registered and eligible to cast their vote in this primary election.

“We are confident our mailing list of NPP voters is accurate, however, some voters may have had their party preference unknowingly changed as a result of automatic voter registration through the California Department of Motor Vehicles,” O’Neill said.

Area voters to decide new State Senator on Tuesday

District 1 spans California’s northeastern corner from the Oregon border to Lake Tahoe, including some of the Sacramento area’s eastern suburbs. Residents living in Alpine, El Dorado, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, and Siskiyou Counties are in District 1 as well as parts of Placer County (Auburn, Colfax, Lincoln, Loomis, and Rocklin) and Sacramento County (Folsom, Orangevale, and Fair Oaks).

Only Republicans can vote for Douglas County Commissioners

Why?
Because of a new Nevada law that says: If all candidates for an office are from the same party the election for that office will be completed in the primary election. Only those affiliated with that party will be able to vote.
Sass overtakes Swanson as new count of votes released; still more to count
Submitted by paula on Sat, 11/08/2014 - 1:14amIf anyone ever needed proof that every vote counts, they could look to the recent elections in South Lake Tahoe. In June, the County Supervisor District 5 primary election ended up with just 14 votes separating the second, third and fourth positions. The top two, Sue Novasel and Kenny Curtzwiler advanced into this week's election.

Governor Jerry Brown has 55.2% of the Democratic vote. His opponent in the fall with most likely be either Neel Kashkari and Tim Donnelly who are running neck and neck for Republicans.
Lieutenant Governor Democrat Gavin Newsom has earned 50.2% of the vote so far, with the closest challenger being Ron Nehring with 23% of the Republican vote.
