This Event Has Been Canceled The Adventures of Mark Twain, Tahoe and the Territorial Enterprise Newspaper in Virginia City. Join the Friends of the Library for an illustrated talk by Steve Robison, printer at Tahoe Letterpress. Mr. Robison will explain how Mark Twain wound up in Virginia City, and on occasion in the Lake Tahoe basin. He will also share his discovery of a vast collection of antique 1860's type from the Territorial Enterprise newspaper in Virginia City where Mark Twain was a reporter and city editor during the early silver discoveries of the Comstock Lode.

LAKE TAHOE, Nev./Calif. - Operation Sierra Storm, a leading national weather conference being held on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe Jan. 26-28, 2020, is a cutting-edge meteorological forum and seminar for network television meteorologists from around the country.

The Lake Tahoe Visitor's Authority has invited the public to one of the events during the conference, Fire Conditions, Community Safety and Tahoe Climate Impact, on January 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Harveys Lake Tahoe Cabaret Theater.

Howie's House of Comedy opens in The Loft Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Local celebrity, radio show host and comedian Howie Nave has teamed up with Paul Reder, co-owner of The Loft Tahoe, to bring national touring comedians to the intimate showroom inside the Heavenly Village.

Howie's House of Comedy will be open every Sunday in the Loft Theater starting March 3. Known for its award-winning magicians from around the world, the theater will now have some of the best names from the world of stand up comedy.

Fundraising talent show in Carson City to feature South Shore dancers

Carson’s Got Talent, a talent show featuring performers from Reno, Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Douglas County, Dayton and Yerington, hits the stage at the Bob Boldrick Theater in Carson City on Saturday, April 14, at 6:30 p.m.

The show, which will be emceed by local comedian Roger Diez, is a fundraiser for Meals on Wheels Carson City.

Judging the competition is a star-studded line up of regional celebrities:

My name is Scott Ramirez, I am a long time resident of South Lake Tahoe. Some of you know me and my family and are familiar with our activities to support our town. We are advocates for our community and volunteer where we can.

Kayaker reported missing in Lake Tahoe

The search has been suspended for a man who was reported missing near Lester Beach, north of Emerald Bay in Lake Tahoe on Thursday.

On June 8 at 9:15 a.m., Pham Dan Vu Thanh (who goes by Dan), called a friend to tell him he was going kayaking and camping in the Lester Beach area. As of 6:15 p.m. that evening there had been no word from Dan.

"Don't take our lanes away" common theme at crowded NDOT meeting

A preliminary step in what will be a multi-year Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) process took place at Zephyr Cove Elementary School Wednesday evening. About double the expected maximum of 120 people crowded the school's multi-purpose room to view and listen to the agency's plans for the stretch of Highway 50 from Stateline to Spooner Summit in Lake Tahoe which is officially called the US50 Lake Tahoe Corridor Safety Improvement.

Hands-on tour and demonstration of letterpress at Bona Fide Books

Tahoe Letterpress will open its doors for a studio tour and reception Friday, June 16, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm. Located at Bona Fide Books in Meyers, the print shop will offer hands-on demonstrations and free hand-printed souvenirs to take home. The event is free and open to the public.

"Super Fan" Ruby Isaac covering Amgen for Specialized Bicycles

Nine-year-old bike enthusiast Ruby Issac from Kettering, UK has been making the most of her role as "race reporter" for Specialized Bicycles at Amgen Tour of California. She won a contest to come to California with her family to be the official media person for the company during the races.

When the women's teams were presented at Harrah's Tahoe Wednesday evening, Ruby was right there with the Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team out of Holland.

When Anna van der Breggen of the team stepped onto the stage as the Stage 1 second-place finisher on Thursday, Ruby was there.

Man who brought kidnapped woman to South Lake Tahoe spending 40 years in prison

Matthew D. Muller, a 40-year-old disbarred lawyer from Orangevale who often spent time at his family cabin in the South Lake Tahoe area, was sentenced today to 40 years in prison for the kidnapping Denise Hoskins at the Vallejo home she shared with her boyfriend on March 23, 2015.

Women's long drive record established at Edgewood during celebrity golf action

A drive of 336-yards by the 2013 Women's World Long Drive Champion Heather LeMaster was good enough to establish a world record at elevation during the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe on Tuesday.

LeMaster, a Sacramento native, was one of four contestants to attempt the record.
